Explore the art of hand-made books, which make great journals or sketchbooks! Learn how to make a decorative Japanese stab-style book binding in this workshop. This binding style consists of a soft cover and exposed spine — sewn together in a simple pattern, requiring no folding or glue. Once finished, you will have a quality, handmade book, ready to fill with thoughts and images all your own. This workshop is for Georgia Tech students, faculty, and staff. Workshop located in the Price Gilbert Memorial Library, Room 2222 (2nd floor).

Tech’s Tactile Thursday’s welcomes the Georgia Tech Origami Club to teach the Origami Carambola flower, by designed by Carmen Sprung. The art of Japanese paper folding, origami, can turn a simple sheet of paper into a stunning creation. Participants will have the opportunity to make more than one flower. All skill levels welcome and all materials are provided.

Georgia Tech Students, Faculty and Staff are invited to the Robert C. Williams Museum of Paper Making for a free Paper Cuts workshop in celebration of International Education week. Participants will be introduced to the history of Paper Cuts and how cultures all over the world have used paper cuts for religious, celebratory and other purposes. Through an instructor demonstration, participants will learn how to make their own paper cut, using paper, cutting tools, and cutting mats.

Join us for this fun workshop where participants will explore an early type of camera less photography. Use paper pre-coated with a mixture of chemicals, the power of the sun and plants to create your own cyanotypes. Participants will also learn about the history of cyanotypes from the technique’s invention, it’s first photographic use, to paper artist who create beautiful pieces of artwork with this technique. This workshop is for Georgia Tech Students, Staff and Faculty.
