About Virtual Paperworks
Virtually travel through time to follow the path of paper from the earliest examples of writing materials, to the Chinese discovery of how to make paper, to the paper mills of Europe. The Virtual Tour is a 45 min program, and the Virtual Tour & Hands-on Workshop is a 1 hour 15 min program. The Virtual Tour & Hands-on Workshop consists of a 45 min virtual tour and a 30 min hands-on book making activity.
The new virtual tour incorporates some traditional tour and lecture elements, such as images of artifacts and photographs, but also includes videos depicting different methods of papermaking from around the world. Papermaking becomes much more understandable when the artifacts on exhibit can be seen in action. The virtual tour encourages the audience to spend more time examining artifacts and learning their stories to develop an understanding of how papermaking is experienced around the world. A group booking the virtual tour can add on a hands-on book making workshop facilitated by museum staff, and the supplies will be provided to the group.
